Malabsorption Syndrome(From French mal - disease and lat absorptio - absorption absorption..), Absorption disorders syndrome, impaired intestinal absorption syndrome - a set of symptoms caused by malabsorption at the small intestine of one or more nutrients; characterized by a combination of hypovitaminosis, anemia, hypoproteinemia.
ETIOLOGY AND PATHOGENESIS. MS It is a consequence of reducing the activity (e.g., by the action of certain antibiotics) or insufficient intake in the intestine (e.g., primukovisiidoze) cleaving enzymes digestion and carrying the end products through the intestinal wall. When M. disturbed hormonal regulation of digestion, hydrolysis and transport of lipids, suffer intestinal structures responsible for the absorption process.
CLINICAL PICTURE. In children, the most characteristic symptoms of M. are chronical. diarrhea, steatorrhea, developing malnutrition, turning into exhaustion, stunting. Patients marked hypochromic anemia, hypokalemia, hyponatremia, gipokaliiemiya.Changes are possible on the part of other organs and systems (dry skin, glossitis, edema caused by impaired protein metabolism, water-salt metabolism). MS can proceed and without sharp changes from a stomach. - kish. tract.
DIAGNOSIS is based on data from anamnesis, genealogical analysis, screening tests (tests for the presence of sugars in feces and urine, coprological examination) and other biochemical methods of examination, x-ray examination, and immunological methods of diagnosis.
TREATMENT: diet therapy, the appointment of an elimination diet to exclude products that lead to the development of otd. pathological symptoms, symptomatic and substitution therapy. see alsoLactose intolerance, celiac disease.
