American mother Carey Young and her husband Royce stated that they decided to save the terminally ill child until the full term of pregnancy, knowing that the baby will live only a few hours - so that her organs can be given to those children who need them.
Young parents went on an ultrasound scan at the 19th week of pregnancy to find out the sex of the child, but were shocked by the news that their future daughter had a fatal pathology - anencephaly - a brain development disorder. This means that the girl, who has already been named Eve, will be born without a sufficiently developed brain and will presumably die within the first hours after birth.
However, Yangi decided not to interrupt the pregnancy, but to carry it out to the full term in order to donate the child’s organs to donor service.
“She has a perfect heart. She has perfect legs, perfect hands. She has perfect kidneys, lungs and liver. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a perfect brain, ”wrote Carey on FB. “We recently learned that she has anencephaly, and this is fatal.”Faced with terrible options, we decided to continue the pregnancy until the full term, so that Eve, which literally means “life,” could grow strong and give life to many other people through organ donation. ”
“It was not an easy decision. For the next 20 weeks, I will feel her movements and heartbeat, knowing that we will have only a few short hours with her when she is born. ”
“Eve will have a life, albeit a short one. She will give everything she can to others and will do more in her time on earth than I will ever do. ”
